  • TYPES OF VEHICLE TYPES OF VEHICLE FOR TRANSPORTING REFRIGERATED CARGO

    International transportation of refrigerated cargo is performed by special vehicles equipped to create three different temperature conditions: heating, cooling or deep freezing. One such vehicle is a refrigerator truck. This vehicle is equipped with a refrigeration system that allows transportation of perishable goods, pharmaceutical and chemical products, and other goods requiring artificial cooling. There are many types of refrigerator trucks, including:

    • Double-decker refrigerator trucks allowing the transport of more goods at the same time;
    • Two-compartment refrigerator trucks used to maintain two sets of goods at different temperatures.

    Also, isothermal trucks are designed for the transportation of food and non-food items with stringent temperature condition requirements. This truck type is characterized by thickened walls and an inner, non-oxidizing covering that reduces mechanical impact on cargo during the delivery process.     Refrigerated transport is necessary for the delivery of several categories of goods. The bulk of cargo carried in this way is perishable or highly perishable. Thus, the category of perishable goods includes cream-containing confectionery if their moisture content exceeds 13%. Perishable cargo does not comprise fresh berries, freshly cut flowers, or chilled seafood.
