In August 2025, an AsstrA client requested the transportation of oversized and heavy cargo to Mongolia.
- The cargo consisted of two batches of coils: 14, 23 and 25 tons weight each.
- The total weight of the transported cargo exceeded 330 tons.
- The route ran from Germany to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.
For these shipments intermodal solution has been chosen. During the first stage, the coils were delivered by specialized road transport, after which they were transshipped to railcars.
To ensure safe delivery, railway specialists AsstrA prepared a loading and securing scheme for railway shipments. This allowed us to calculate the optimal weight distribution on the railway tracks. After the final approval the cargo was placed on open railcars: the first batch of coils was loaded onto railway platforms, and the second batch onto open wagons. All the transshipment operations have been done according to the plan and under control of AsstrA surveyors.
Customer received tracking report daily which allowed to be informed about the cargo on every part of the route.
“As often happens in the logistics world we faced some challenges here: upon the cargo’s arrival at the border we had to urgently prepare additional documents acc. to the authority’s request. Thanks to the prompt actions of the AsstrA team and coordination with the customer, all vehicles have been cleared without delays, and the shipments continued as planned”, — said Olga Davidovich, Forwarding Specialist at AsstrA.
Coordination of the loading plan as well as handling of all necessary documentation has been done in accordance to the customer’s requirements.
The accumulated efforts of all parties involved and professional logistics approach of the AsstrA team at every stage ensured the successful delivery of the cargo to Ulaanbaatar.
