In recent years, Uzbekistan’s automotive industry sector has experienced significant growth, gradually transforming the country from one primarily reliant on domestic production to an active player in the global car market. Statistics show a sharp increase in the import of foreign automobiles into the country, partially driven by the liberalization of customs policies and government efforts to stimulate competition in the domestic market.
International logistics provider AsstrA has seen growing interest among Uzbek clients in importing cars. For instance, between November and December 2023, AsstrA helped bring 6 Alfa Romeo Stelvios, 34 Opel Astras, and Opel Mokkas into Uzbekistan from Italy, Germany, and France, respectively.
In addition to direct deliveries of finished automobiles, strategic partnerships with foreign manufacturers play a key role in the Uzbek automotive industry's development. An example of such collaboration is a project with a Citroen plant in Trnava, Slovakia, for the shipment of new models. This project will help meet current demand and enrich offerings in the Uzbek automotive market.
Moreover, in December of the previous year, the AsstrA team organized air freight of over 6,000 tons of auto parts from Turkey to Uzbekistan, not only supporting the country's automotive infrastructure but also providing local owners and auto service companies with access to quality spare parts.
The AsstrA team also regularly handles deliveries of automotive components from Brazil, Mexico, and the EU to Uzbekistan. This crucial component of logistics work ensures uninterrupted car production and supports the efficiency of the automotive industry in the Uzbek market.
"A pilot project for transporting cars from Europe to Uzbekistan was launched in November 2023. The understandably high requirements for delivering such cargo include full safety, 24/7 monitoring, photo-video reports from transfer points, and of course, strict adherence to deadlines. The coordinated teamwork of our colleagues from different countries and departments helped fulfill all customer requirements and win greater trust in the form of fresh orders for car delivery," shares Yan Pyagai, Sales Specialist at AsstrA.
Imports now play a crucial role in the development of Uzbekistan's automotive industry, opening up not only access to global automotive innovation but also new prospects for further growth and collaboration in the sector. AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG continues to provide a comprehensive range of associated logistics offerings, expand its presence in Uzbekistan, and make significant contributions to the development of the country’s automotive market.
