“What happens if we invest in employees’ development and then they leave? A good question, but better ask what will happen if we do not make this investment and they stay.” This old business saying points to the importance of training the people who will, after all, make or break the future of your business.
Personnel development plays a decisive role in building a functional, well-coordinated team. Continuous training increases employees’ flexibility and helps them quickly adapt to industry requirements. Their knowledge remains relevant, and their sharpened skills improve their professional self-confidence. When employees see that their employer is investing in their professional growth, their loyalty and engagement grow proportionally. For a company aiming to set itself apart from competitors by offering superior-quality services, it is essential to have a team focused on building superior capabilities.
In December 2021, Yana Razhnovskaya took over as AsstrA Training & Development Division Head. We are discuss the corporate group’s strategic plans and key aspects of its professional development program.
“Regular training should become a habit for every employee. The logistics industry does not stand still. To keep developing and improving our business processes, we needs people with the latest knowledge and skills. Thus, by developing ourselves, we improve the company. This is the main aim of our Training & Development Division. Over 40 trainings are available for AsstrA professionals on our internal platform, which take into account our overall business goals as well as various regional approaches to achieving them. A separate module is devoted to developing soft skills. The training department team promptly responds to colleagues' requests for additional master classes in areas of interest. This is how the company introduced trainings on topics like Emotional Intelligence, Job Karfting, Sanctions Risks, and Dealing with Anxiety, among others,” comments Yana Razhnovskaya, Head of the Training & Development Division.
The company also brings in teachers to help employees improve their English in group and individual lessons and discussion clubs. In order to make progress, singificant time and perseverance is required, and everyone takes in the material at different rates. Therefore, in 2022, the training department expanded the company’s learning and management system to a corporate platform so that employees have access to online and offline lectures and video material. They can also can independently develop in areas that they are personally interested in.
“We are a logistics company that has been part of a dynamic industry for 27 years. We strive to meet the changing requirements of the international market. Employees are obliged to update their knowledge more often, so the Training & Development Division makes it a priority to regularly evolve and improve our approaches to creating training programs. After all, what we learn today could be irrelevant tomorrow.
“I love this quote from Noam Chomsky: “The purpose of learning is to show people how to learn for themselves. Another concept of education is upbringing.” In AsstrA, everyone has the opportunity to continuously develop themselves. I am glad to be helping make this happen as part of the Training & Development Division team,” sums up Yana Razhnovskaya.
