On June 22, Polish daily newspaper Dziennik Gazeta Prawna published the 26th edition of its TSL Companies Ranking. TSL stands for Transport, Forwarding, and Logistics, or “Transport, Spedycja, Logistyka” in Polish. This year, 82 enterprises were ranked according to their revenues and categories of activities.
Although 2020 was a challenging year, the EFL barometer – which monitors development trends for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises – indicated that the sentiment indicator for the Polish transport industry increased year-on-year from 48.9% up to 54.5% in the second quarter of 2021. The achievements of the companies included in the ranking demonstrate the strong economic dynamics of the TSL sector. Total revenues amounted to over PLN 32 billion, up 7.1% from 2019.
The key driver of revenue growth was strong demand for e-commerce deliveries, warehousing services, and sea forwarding. Sustainable development initiatives were also important factors contributing to the companies’ revenue growth and profitability.
Also, overall employment in transport and logistics companies increased by 30%. The evidence clearly suggests that the industry is constantly evolving. Regardless of the challenges of the “new reality” brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, companies able to adapt efficiently are seeing financial success and making investments to secure clients’ interests.
