AsstrA's worldwide presence helps Clients complete complex, ambitious goals whenever and wherever they are doing business. February 2021 marked one year in business for AsstrA New York. Since the office opened, the team has already handled its first thousand import/export orders together with local and international partners.
In its first year, AsstrA’s New York branch welcomed over 60 Clients onboard and helped them transport 2.6 thousand TEU's from and to the United States. Most Clients are from the agricultural, pharmaceutical, food, automotive, and metallurgical industries. The most popular import routes to the US were from India, Russia, and the Netherlands. The most popular export routes from the US were to Kenya, Nigeria, Germany, Belgium, and the UK.
Notably, AsstrA New York worked closely with AsstrA teams in St. Petersburg and Novorossiysk to provide transatlantic transportation for a leading agricultural producer that has been relying on AsstrA for over 26 years. This customer turned to AsstrA for help with North American exports based on the company’s strong track record supporting CIS-EU trade.
Since 2016, AsstrA's Russian offices in St. Petersburg and Novorossiysk have been regularly organizing cargo deliveries from Russia to American ports. In addition to sea transportation in 40' containers, Clients also take advantage of a wide range of range of logistics services including:
- Delivery of cargo to the port of departure,
- Registration of accompanying documentation,
- Chartering,
- Terminal services,
- Delivery of cargo by container ships to the final consignee.
The AsstrA New York team oversees container shipment arrivals and organizes "last mile" deliveries without the participation of the sea line. Having a local presence in the USA has streamlined communication with Clients and transport companies. The US team acts as a liaison and handles negotiations with cargo recipients, terminals, train stations, brokers, and shipping lines. This way, clients save time and can focus on their core business.
Upon arrival of a vessel at the port of destination, the cargo is cleared by the American office and delivered to the final recipient. This approach helps guarantee the proper execution of contracted services and the timely delivery of goods without additional costs.

“Due to the difficult logistics situation in the United States and around the world, shipping companies are regularly facing delivery delays. Overloads at terminals and stations and a lack of free space on ships are creating disruptions in even the most sophisticated logistics chains. Any delay or downtime at United States terminals leads to higher costs for clients. The AsstrA team in New York is there on the ground to ensure that things go smoothly and these risks are minimized,” comments Ekaterina Zlatoustovskaya, Trade Lane Manager in AsstrA’s US Container Division.
