The AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG international logistics group has completed a shipment of Ural stone and construction equipment for a garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.
AsstrA’s customer was the British construction company Cube 1994 Ltd., the creator of the Ural Garden in Yekaterinburg. The Ural stone was intended for the construction of a garden for the Chelsea Flower Show, the largest flower industry exhibition in Europe, held at the end of September 2021.
The total weight of the stones was 63,312 kg. Delivery was carried out on Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) terms, wherein delivery rates include payments to all regulatory authorities. AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG took over the entire process of organizing delivery, including planning, preparding documentation, selecting the transport mode, and handling UK import customs clearance.
The project was implemented in 8 months, from November 2020 to July 2021.

"The project was originally planned for the end of January, but the exhibition was postponed from May to September due to the epidemiological situation in the country. The shipment had to be postponed. It was possible to resume operations only in the spring of 2021. The transportation project itself took 11 days. The 4,800 km delivery route passed through Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, and the UK. Three standard trucks equipped with a 13.6 m awnings were used. This choice was due to the need for side and top loading," says Daniil Chertov, Country Manager for the Ural and Siberian Federal Districts of Russia.

During the project, AsstrA specialists successfully overcame a number of challenges that arose. "Special attention was paid to the preparation of documents for customs clearance of the non-standard cargo as well as the loading of oversized parts of various weights and dimensions in special packaging,” adds Irina Andreeva, Specialist in AsstA’s Contract Logistics Department.
Our team in London handled payment of customs duties, so customs clearance was completed as soon as possible.“
The delivery went according to plan, and the cargo was delivered to the recipient on time.

"After the successful completion of the transportation project, the customer asked is to consult on the VAT payment rules for goods imported in bulk to the UK. We have described all the nuances in detail and provided an estimate of the required amount," sums up Anna Smirnova, Head of AsstrA Industrial Project Logistics in the UK.
At the exhibition in London, a copy of Yekaterinburg’s Ural Garden was recreated in three weeks. The original is is located at the Oblique House on the Iseti embankment in the center of Yekaterinburg. A panel of experts at the Chelsea Flower Show gave the creators of the London garden a silver medal.
