The AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG international corporate group delivered over 190 tons of cargo to the February 2019 grand opening of the Kalina Mall shopping and exhibition complex in Vladivostok. The complex’s total area of 102,000 square meters makes it the largest of its kind in the Primorski Krai, where its opening was eagerly anticipated.
AsstrA’s long-term key Customer, a major fashion retailer, entrusted the logistics provider with the organization of the delivery of new products for the newly opening stores there. The AsstrA team executed the door-to-door project with 20 40’ containers delivered by rail and road and 12.5 tons of cargo by air. The end recipients were several well-known clothing brands.
The primary target set for AsstrA by the Customer was the uninterrupted management of full and partial load cargo flows just-in-sequence (JIS) and just-in-time (JIT) along with distribution of goods directly to the stores.
Anastasia Vysotskaya, AsstrA Fashion & Beauty Logistics Sales Specialist, describes the preparation for the project:
“It was necessary to organize transportation as soon as possible - within two weeks. Thanks to the well-coordinated work of the railway and air divisions, all the products were delivered and distributed to the trading floors in a record time of only 11 days.”
Andrey Sulla, Deputy COO for Rail Freight Transportation at AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG, discusses the project’s unique characteristics:
“Deliveries were made the night before the center’s opening. Therefore the complex’s administrators allocated a certain amount of time for unloading for each store. Shipments were carried out from a warehouse in the Moscow region. AsstrA rail experts calculated the dates and times of departure and arrival of the containers in Vladivostok so that the cargo would arrive at the complex exactly at the appointed date and time. Such precise planning made it possible to avoid consolidation of the cargo at warehouses and optimize the Customer's transportation costs.”
According to Anastasia Vysotskaya, such a project is a textbook example of well-coordinated fashion industry logistics:
“Considering all the details and complexities it involved over these weeks, this project was a real strength test that we’re pleased to have passed. All deadlines and requirements were met, the Customer is satisfied, and the AsstrA team is looking forward to new challenges.”
