Clients come to logistics operators with a wide variety of requests, from the standard transportation of goods between point A and point B with shipping document registration to urgent deliveries expected “yesterday” – and even a mix of everything at once. In practice, AsstrA has handled them all. One example was a shipment of metal reinforcing bars from Stary Oskol, Russia to Poznan, Poland.
The AsstrA Steel Logistics team had to transport bundles of reinforcing bars with a total weight of more than 700 tons as quickly as possible. The Client set a very limited timeframe for the project. It seemed that it was impossible to find the right number of vehicles for transportation in such a short period of time. The most simple and obvious way out would have been to explain to the customer the complexity of the situation and offer a longer delivery time or higher costs.
But AsstrA experts go the extra mile to explore all possible – and seemingly impossible – transportation options that meet Clients’ requirements to minimize delivery times and financial costs. In this case, the best option was a combined scheme involving rail and road transport.
The shipper delivered 11 loaded wagons to the Isov border station in Ukraine. Here, the cargo was placed at the disposal of AsstrA experts, who carefully oversaw its passage to the Slavkov station in Poland in the EU. There, the company’s specialists organized the unloading of the reinforcing bars in a warehouse with subsequent loading into trucks which brought the cargo to its destination in Poznan
