The Onkomarafon 5K Charity Run was held on August 19, 2018, in Victory Park in Minsk. The event was organized by Japanese pharmaceutial company Takeda’s representative office in Belarus with the support of Belarusian web portal TUT.BY.
The Onkomarafon is not a typical 5K run. It is a “marathon of good deeds” in that each runner’s participation leads to help for children with oncological and hematological diseases. Members of the AsstrA Running Team, from the AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG corporate group, were eager to join the cause.
"In everyday life you often forget that there are less fortunate people out there who need help. Onkomarafon is a both a reminder and an opportunity to give it to such people – young people in this case – in desperate need. We could not miss this. I am very happy that the AsstrA team ran alongside the other 3,000 participants living up to the motto "Good deeds are never too small," says Vyacheslav Gural, Asian Region Director at AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG.
Oncomarafon is a good example of how we can help sick children. As Sergey Krashevsky, Head of Applications Administration at AsstrA, relates, “Participating in this running event gave me a charge of cheerfulness that put me in a good mood for the rest of the day. It is excellent when you and your colleagues can enjoy an athletic event with a higher purpose. I hope to take part in this event again next year."
"Vyacheslav and Sergey, thank you! We started, ran, and finished this 5K charity run together. AsstrA is always happy to help people who need it,” emphasizes Natalia Radischevskaya, SRM Specialist at AsstrA-Associated Traffic AG.
